After providing an overview of Mao Tse-tung’s insurgency theory, as outlined in his work On Guerrilla Warfare, the paper will continue with a brief analysis of its application in Vietnam and the case studies of al-Qaeda and ISIS, to prove Mao’s versatility and timelessness, also in face of modernization.
